Saturday Morning Road Trip

Today was not a fly day but I did drive over to the Michigan City Airport in the early morning to pick up a calibrated torque wrench & adapter, safety wire pliers & wire and small container of gasket cement. While there, and in consideration for the equipment loan, took a couple of my pilot friends to IHOP for breakfast then back to Phillips Field.

While at the airfield checked out the FBO, watched a power line inspector preflight his helicopter and then take off to do some additional inspections.

The helicopter is a 2006 Eurocopter-EC120 and is employed by Enbridge Pipelines Inc in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.  For those geographically challenged, Calgary is due north of Montana, and is the largest city in the province of Alberta of, resting in a deep river valley where the prairies end and the foothills begin. As the eastern gateway to the Canadian Rockies and a well-known destination for winter sports and ecotourism, Calgary and its surrounding area is home to numerous mountain resorts.

Took this picture around the airport before drifting over to the Skydive Windy City’s hanger to check out who is jumping and of course take a few more pictures of tandems landing.

Had a few minutes to speak to Tom, my parachute rigger, and turned over two Racer parachute rigs to try and sell for me but neglected to leave my jump rig for reserve repack.

By now it was getting on to noon and since I had yard work awaiting me at home back to the barn I went.  All in all, a very nice morning.
